This is largely forgotten, but in 1939 the government advised the population to have their dogs (and other pets) put down. And thousands of people did so! At the outset of the war it was feared that there would not be enough food to feed the nation's dogs.


I always had dogs as a child, long after the war of course, but there were still cruel old people ready to shout 'THAT'LL HAVE TO BE PUT DOWN IF THERE'S ANOTHER WAR!".

I'm always amazed at how people comply with destructive government orders. I bet there are still people having 'covid' boosters - are these the sorts of people who would kill their dog if the government said so?

There are photos of people queuing to have their dogs killed.

I am always loth to use Wikipedia articles, but something in this piece interested me as it illustrates another form of government indoctrination, when it states that the slaughter 'triggered a waste management challenge'. In 1939, nobody would have said 'triggered', 'waste management' and 'challenge', at least not in this context. They would have used correct English. Tony Blair is responsible for this type of bland, unlovable waffle.

As it won't (might not?) be contaminated by the atomic bomb testing of the fifties and sixties, it could be pretty useful and perhaps valuable :unsure:
 
There are a lot of humans that I would like to see put down before my dogs, and most of them are politicians !
 
I wonder how a dog or cat's food demand compares to a human's? They only eat meat, but it's rubbish grade stuff.

We once had two cats, I did sometimes wonder if we spent as much on feeding them as us, and they're a lot smaller than a big dog. They're not happy with a crisp sarnie if they're peckish, they want meaty stuff.

But yeah, that queue photo could be happening again if the Greens continue their advance towards islamism and their weird popularity. Hopefully not, I'd hope that at some point even lefties can work out that they don't have much in common with their bedfellows.
