The program crashes

I have a problem with Microsoft Word Office 2016. For some reason, the program crashes frequently when I am opening DOCX extension file.
Really hope someone has a solution for this. i'm running out of ideas.

Not enough information at the moment. Is this when opening any Docx file, a new file or an existing file? - If existing I would not rule out corruption in which case it would be best to get a copy or backup of the file.

In any event have you checked that your application is upto date.

First of all try this
In File>Options>Advanced, scroll down to the Show document content section of the Word Options dialog and check the box for Show picture placeholders to temporarily turn off the display of the pictures.
