thermocoupler on gas fire stuck

I picked up a used gas stove from the usual junk site
However when i press the knob down and try to turn it to the ignition position, it is stuck.

Well i think its the thermocoupler, thats the spring loaded thing that pops out and no more gas when fire goes out right? anyway that spring loaded thing on the hand dial is stuck!

It's broken and needs a Gas Safe Registered engineer in to fix it.

IS DIY GAS LEGAL? Diy gas work is not illegal, BUT, the law does require that only competent people may work on gas appliances. You also have to be able to test anything you've done, so you need the right equipment and have the right qualification to use it. The Gas Safety Regs 1998 states...
