Hi folks,
I think my thermostat is goosed because the pump is going all the time at the moment.
We have a multifuel stove linked to the thermal store and for the last few nights I've heard the pump running constantly when it should only kick in at 65(maybe 75?)c. After the fire going all night keep waking to a tank temperature of such low temperatures(25 bottom/35 top) on the Resol display I know something is wrong with it, usually wake to 55-60 degrees.
The make is a Codice 542496 and along from it is an I-stat Dual with what seems to be a setting dial that goes from 60-90 and is set at about 75(I think it is the only way I can see it is by photoing it because it's stupidly inaccessible)
I don't even know for sure if the two are linked, sure they are though, does anyone know if this make is any good? It's lasted under 3 yrs and it seems my neighbour has had his replaced already, same age of house. Can it be replaced easy enough with another better, reliable make if this brand is indeed pish, and could anyone advise a good make? The Istat controller thing is loose on the tank and seems to be hanging by a copper/brass nipple?
Could I do this DIY or should I get it done by a plumber OR sparky?(not even sure who's realm this is in!).
If I need to call someone out what could I expect to pay in terms of time?
The whole tank is in such a stupid place too, everyone involved in the design and build of this place must have been on crack....
Posted this in plumbing too, not sure who's realm this is in- apologies for double posting to the moderators...
