I have a conventional open vented system. I want to change my bath manual mixer tap (combination bath mixer and shower) for a thermostatic one since i have small children. The cold and hot pressures are good. Do i need mains pressure to fit one of those or will it also work with athmospheric pressure systems? Thank u.

Just make sure you get one suitable for LOW pressure, ie from 0.1bar. Ones requiring 0.5bar would be hopeless.

Hi Chris and thanks 4 answering. I forgot to mention that my bathroom is on the grond floor, so between the shut off level of CWSC in the loft and the shower head when i use the shower instead of the bath there is probably 4 metres without taking into consideration pipe length and bends. Should i look for one working from 0.3 bar or am i being too positive??Could you also recommend a good brand name and where can i get it from??? Thanks 4 your time>

They all let some water out, but often don't say much about the quantity. You can spend a fortune on a showering thing and have a wombat the other end of the phone who can only quote from a list "It says 0.4 bar". Which tells you bugger all.

I know these work

You would order it with the "low pressure" cartridge. But note the bath filling part isn't thermostatic.

Plenty everywhere eg http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=A334898&ts=07560&id=42419# but note it doesn't actually say Thermostatic. Read everything very carefully.
