Hi
I've got a Showerforce 123-T thermostatic mixer shower running from a combi bolier.
The shower works but the temperature range is way down from what I'd like it to be. The only way I can get a vaguely tepid shower out of the thing is by turning the flow right down. This is not a new problem, it has been like this even since the shower was fitted. Another, probably unconnected symptom is that the shower 'sings' when the pressure is turned right down (i.e. high frequence vibrations).
I'm fairly certain the boiler can produce enough hot water to give me a hot shower at a decent pressure...the problem appears to be that the shower is adjusting the temp down.
Before you suggest it, I've adjusted the temperature nut to try to solve the problem but, even at a setting which is applying no pressure to the temperature mechanism, I get no heat.
So..the only reasons I can think of is..
1) The inlets are plumbed the wrong way around - but I doubt this as the shower does actually work OK, just at a lower temperature band than it should.
2) The pressure is too high for the shower - I live on the 4th floor of a block of flats but the pressure does seem to be pretty high. Could this be a reason for the thermostat to misbehave? I've tried to restrict the flat water supply at the stop-cock but this doesn't seem to help anything.
3) The thermostat never worked properly - which is really annoying as apparently a new one cost around £200 which pretty much what I paid for the shower in the first place (unless anyone knows where I can get one cheaper?)
4) Some sort of debris in the mechanism...I'm just clutching at straws now!
Expert views or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
