I need a room that's 2.5m x 2.5m boarded and plastered. I'm advised it will need taking back to the bricks, battening and boarding/plastering.

I've had a quote from a local guy who says he would cost £950 (inc materials) which seems mighty steep...

your right i think £950 is dear to board and skim a room thats a little over 8ft ,a couple of questions-
why has it got to be boarded ?
if it is going to be boarded why cant it be d&d?
why has it got to go back to brick?
to board and skim a room that size is 2 days work
give or take a few hours, and you should be looking at no more than £500.

based on the measurements and being standard height room.
your looking at 24 sqm (walls only)
for dot&dab and skim, a good price would be around £20-22 sqm labour only
materials £90 ish
SO
£22 labour x 24 sqm = £528 + £90 mats = £618
plus the half day for shifting the old gear on the wall so not far off the £700

bit of a push to remove all the old backing and dab and skim in 2 days

Thanks guys. After I posted the topic I got a second email from the guy and turns out he mistyped the estimate - he hit a 9 rather than a 4

:P :P :P :P

now thats more like it £450 is good price to tell you the truth if you lived down my way you could probably get it done for cheaper theres to many in the game down here to charge big money.
the 9 on a keyboard is knowhere near the 4 though, dont know how he could make that mistake.
