Tile adhesive hell

I've lifted a load of tiles put in by previous tenants in my bathroom thats got about 4sqm coverage.

They've put the adhesive on top of chipboard and I'm trying to remove the adhesive.

Is this some sort of levelling screed put down? It's turning rubbery when I've clear a bit with a multi.

Some of the tiles I just couldn't get up and separate from this adhesive, it's horrendous. I want to see whether I can at least find the joist/nail line to remove these boards.

Tried a diamond multi blade but it seems to just struggle and less effective than a Wood/Plastic normal Multi blade....Also I have an SDS scraper arriving tomorrow, not sure this is going to work either.

Does anyone have any other options???

A cheap concrete grinder might help

I have one, it is OK, not brilliant but more than adequate given the price point. That said it will probably clog once it is hits the bituminous(?) product.

Alternatively, a multitool scraper might be able to get under the cement based adhesive.

I have seen the AG as a Sander option, just means spending another 40 quid to work out if it'll work.

I might buy a cheap vacumm attachment and disc and see how that goes.

Won't it bite into the chipboard?

I thought you wanted to replace the chipboard.

Yes as you grind through the adhesive, you will hit the chipboard, but the grinding cup will not sucessfully burn through the chipboard. Best case scenario, it will slightly burn/char the chipboard.

I've ordered an AG vacuum guard and disc to do the AG option if the SDS scraper dosn't work.

On the flooring im umming and aring about it, the chipboard runs under adjoining two stud walls, the leak we had wasn't buckets of water for long, so not sure how much constitutes replacing flooring.

Level flooring of new tiles will be the other problem if not replacing the floorboards.

When can you start :D

What do you do if the chipboards under existing stud wall?

I'll see what state it's in tomorrow, pretty sure AG and segmented blade will sort this mess out.

Cut around at wall edge then fit some timer to support the new floor.
You don't want any flex around the edges.
You can fit timber under the wall a bit to support existing floor and the new flooring.
Knock through and have a look at what's under before you cut. Don't want to hit anything
