Tile over painted tiles???

I am just about to overhaul my bathroom. At present there are two layers of tiles that are well fixed to the wall. Rather than remove both layers I was going to tile straight over the existing layer. The problem is the last layer has had a coat of tile paint painted on by the previous owners.
The tile I have chosen for the project are natural stone large mosaics and have a considerable weight. This being my first tiling project I am worried that the tiles will simply be to heavy for the adhesive to hold and slip down or just not adhere to the walls. Has anyone had any experience or advice for a novice tiler???

Don't be silly. Remove the old tiles and do the job properly.

Ditto,

You could (will) end up with a very expensive mess. Rip both layers of tiles off and start from scratch.

Get back to us (or even better, the Tilers Forum) if you need any advice on prepping your surface etc
