Tiling around a bath

Hi Everyone
I have fitted a shower over the bath I am now going to line the stud walls at the end and side of the bath and tile over it. As it is not really a proper shower cubicle but will only be a splash area around the bath - can I get away with tiled plasterboard and waterproof cement and grout - or do I need to use Aquapanel or something waterproof?
I have no experience of what will last - but I don't want to spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar - neither do I want to go to unnecessary expense !!!!

Aquapanel will give you piece of mind for a few extra quid.
