Anyone have any bright ideas about how to deal with builder's merchants' whimsical discount structures on timber prices.
Bought 16mm x 150mm timber a fortnight ago £1.52 a metre plus vat. Bought more of the same today - charged £2.43 plus vat. 60% increase.
Queried and told it all depended on who gives the discount! No prices on display.
Been going there as diyer for years. They were recently taken over by larger company which is almost becoming a monopoly in this area.
Advice most welcome.
