Hello there, I would appreciate some help please.

I want to install a timer switch for my immersion heater. The element is a Diamond H 2RS17c which says it is 20A on the element itself. It is wired from the MCB on a 15A switch and works perfectly well.

I am assuming I need a timer switch rated for approx 20A but I cannot find one. If it does draw 20A, why doesn't it trip the switch on the MCB?

Thanks

Thanks- but maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing- all of these are max 13A which I wouldn't have though we're up to the job?

Are you sure? I think you will find that the Diamond H 2RS17c is the thermostat and not the element itself.....?
Its quite likely for the max handling current of the thermostat to be higher than the element itself
