Hi,

An odd one for you. I've just installed a new bathroom suite, and i've noticed that i get a slight 'tingling' when using the sink taps. yes, stood on wet floor bare footed.

obviously an earth issue somewhere? I've not changed the pipework, however, one of the pipes has a plastic push-fit junction in it - could that be the issue? even if the pipes are bonded before the join, and they meet in a mixer tap, could it be the source? diagram below (B = Bonding, - = pipe, P = plastic fitting, M = mixer tap)

hopefully it's not what Pipme experienced here:

thanks

If you have a central heating radiator or towel rail in the bathroom these need considering; bonding etc as part of the whole. Whilst bonding and earthing prevent the "shocks" you should investigate to find out why there is a PD between floor and tap.

If you can get access to the plastic joint area, then maybe worth your while to add some supplimetry earth bonding to bypass the plasic fitting.

PIPE-----------------PLASTIC JOINT------------PIPE/TAP

[--------------------EARTH LINK---------------------------]

Probelm could be much worse tho, so this one might be for a sparks to sort out for you.....

I've had the sparky out, and he's checked the bonding, earth into the house, and lots of other things, nothing wrong with the house electrics, so it seems that there is a problem possibly under the bathroom...

I've now cut a few holes in the bathroom floor, found a fair few wires that all seem undamaged, and out of the way of any nails/screws so that looks like that theory is out the window.

Anyone else have any ideas?
