Tips on gettings wires into faceplates.

I was also instructed as an apprentice in the local shipyard that crimping of solid cores was not allowed.

I can certainly understand the logic of it, which is one of the main reasons why I am personally not totally comfortable about the practice. I have no doubt that the failure rate will be extremely low, particularly given that domestic walls don't vibrate in the way that ships, let alone space vehicles, do - but, whatever the regs might say, I don't think I would want 'inaccessible' crimped solid conductors in my house - but that may well be unnecessary caution/paranoia.
