I currently have the Vokera Excel 80SP combi. I don't know the exact age of it cos it was in the house when we moved in 8 years ago.
On Xmas eve 2006 the burner stopped firing up when temperature dropped or or hot tap was turned on. The only way to get burner working was to switch off the on/off switch on the boiler then switch on again, once it had reached it temperature it would switch off but not fire up again as the temperture dropped I would have to repeat the on/off process again.
The pressure dial setting is always the same at 1.5 bar, always in the high end of the green, it very rarely goes down.
I have TVR's on 4 rads and a towel rail in bathroom without a TVR. All work fine when burner is on, no cold spots, i've tried them all in various positions in case one of them was causing the problem. Still the burner problems remain.
I realise that perhaps it's getting near the end of it's life, but I was hoping it would last another 3 1/2 yrs and use some of my retirement money for a replacement.
Do I cut my losses and get one now or should I just go for a repair job which hopefully will see me through til I get my retirement dosh.

THanks

Call manufacturer and ask for an approved service agent they are about in your region. There are many of these models installed in Edinburgh, Glasgow and throughout Scotland. Parts are still available and not too dear.
