Yep i now realise that, after a toilet-flush the valve is still dripping long after it should be.If the float valve is dripping, which I’m pretty it will be, after flushing the water will quickly rise to the normal height, but then continue to slowly rise because of the leaky valve.
If the water never got to the overflow height, there couldn’t be a leak from it.
I can't seem to adjust the contraption to close the valve. I think the valve must be knackered because even i move the ballcock to close the valve it's still dripping. .
On the modern ones you can just turn the screw-top clockwise.
Mine isn't like that
