toilet water inlet

while im tiling i wanted to temporaily connect the WC.

As it will be tiled behind i dont want to fix it first to the wall and hence dont know where the water inlet needs to be.

Can i use plastic pipe to connect from a compression joint to the inlet of the cistern? if so what else do i require?
