I have installed a 150 watt heating element in a new towel radiator in my en-suite bathroom. The element is switched using a double pole switch with 5 amp fuse. Can anyone tell me if I have to worry about supplementary earth bonding ? The towel rail is also plumbed in to my home central heating system .
Any / all help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks, Billy

If the towel rail is supplied by plastic pipes, then it does not need bonding.

If it is supplied by copper pipes, it should already have been bonded, assuming it is in one of the Zones.

The earth of the circuit supplying the element should be connected to the rest of the supplementary equipotential bonding in the bathroom, assuming it is in one of the Zones.

Thanks for the info Ban. The towel rad is supplied by metal pipes, so it will need earth bonding. Would it be sufficient to connect the earth terminal of the element switch (which is located outside the en-suite bathroom) to the inlet and then to the outlet pipe of the towel rad. ? Or would these earth bonding connectors then have to be connected to the rest of the metal pipework in the bathroom ?
Thanks again, Tony
