Towel rail elbow alignment

Evening all, I'm hoping someone can help!

I've just fitted a replacement heating element in my towel rail (dual fuel style so connected to central heating). Unfortunately I'm getting a leak from the dual fuel elbow, when I tighten it up enough to stop the leak then the elbow is poking out completely the wrong direction.

Is there anyway of altering the angle and keeping it watertight? I've tried more offs tape but that's not doing the trick sadly.

Loctite 55 is much more effective than PTFE for these kinds of joints
