Toyota Avensis indicators

When i use the indicators they are very temperamental.
They work perfect when indicating right but when indicating left sometimes they work and other times you get a very quick indicator noise but no flashing bulbs.
Is it just a matter of changing the flasher.

Check none of the connections to the offending lamp clusters have turned green and furry.

Corrosion on the connectors, or on the base of the bulb can increase the electrical resistance to the point where the lamps don't work, and the flasher relay starts doing odd things.

Corrosion or paint on the earth connection to a lamp cluster can result in all sorts of odd things like the right brake light flashing when the left indicator is switched on, or the indicators stopping when the lights are turned on etc. etc.

Cheers TrickyT, tried that last night and it is a major improvement.Sorry for the delay in responding but its the mrs car and she broke her arm around time of posting question so the job has had to wait.
