I’m just fitting the hardwood sashes in to my existing bay window frame. They’ve had a couple of coats of aluminium primer and the first coat of undercoat. Now to do a bit of filling where the beadings have been pinned on, the slight gaps on the mitres and the gap between sash and frame.

Should I use a traditional exterior wood filler or decorators caulking?

Should I also put a bead of something on the face of the frame where the sash will sit against when fitted?

Or is there a better solution?
