Hi. My dish washer is knocking on 6 yrs old now, has been working fine up till a couple of days ago. Its not taking in water. I have checked the pipes at the back, no kinks and the inlet pipe from the wall is def not blocked. I wondered if it would still work with water in the bottom, so I put 1/2 bucket of water in it and it works until the water is drained out. But it doesn't fill back up again.
Can anyone help?
Regards Justin.

Internal blockage leading to lock out of the inlet valve.
If you have a cover inside with blue tubes in it then this is most likely blocked.
Nightmare machines to clear blockages on.

Underneath will be a horshoe shaped hose, this is also prone to blocking as is the small diameter pipe to the pressure switch. Sometimes, if you disconnect the water fill hose from the fill valve the machine will start to work again (ie. take in water). If it does this it will lock out again if there is an internal blockage.

Very slim possibility of the valve being faulty.
In the vast majority of machines it's a blockage.
I'd check/clean the pipework first.
Try the disconnection of the inlet hose to see if the valve will open once the inlet hose is reconnected.
To clean the parts out is free. The valve could be an expense that could be avoided.
Worst case would be a blockage in the integrated water management system (iwms) tank. (This is the large plastic thing on the side of the tub).

Fixed my TB Dishwasher after reading this thread. Thanks very much Sleepyhead. Probably wont be back again until the next thing goes wrong, but guys like you should get the nod they deserve. Cheers.
