True or false?

Have you actually read the comments?

many think its a fake.

I have seen lantern batteries many time & unless they have changed over recent years I can't recall them being filled with AA batteries.

doesn't "gagfilms" suggest something, admittedly not what I first thought of.

lantern batteries have only 4 cells, i used to take them apart as a kid to pull the carbon rods (+ terminal) out. then sharpen it and make my own arc light

Has anyone opened up an alkaline PP3 battery?
Instead of the rectangular 'pancake' cells that used to be common in zinc carbon batteries, they are full of cylindrical cells somewhat smaller than AAA cells.

I have a rechargable lantern, and the battery pack is identical in size and configuration to a dry cell lantern battery, but with a 12V concentric connector and a 'figure of 8' mains connector incorporated into the base. I've never seen what makes it tick, 'coz it's all sealed away in a plastic case, but I imagine there's a switch mode charger hooked up to five 'C' or 'D size NiCad cells.
