Back in the day in California, where else, a guy told me this tale of a job he'd worked on. The story has now entered Urban Myth status or Darwin prize category.
A roofer told his apprentice to secure a safety line to the pick-up's bumper, and under no circumstances to move the vehicle. "Do you understand?" "Yeah, yeah, I know , I know - whatever" Roofer ties himself on, and goes up and over the ridge to make a repair on the far slope. Suddenly, the roofer is jerked to his feet, shoots backwards up the roof at an astonishing speed and does a spectacular flip over the ridge to land in the foliage below.
The lady of the house had noticed the pick-up on the lawn and told the apprentice to move it off the grass onto the driveway. Being a caring lad, and absorbed in his phone, that's what he did. He also had to leave town for awhile.

 lost count of the times ive said to my lads hold the ladder and looked dwn to see them texting on their phone (the youth of today lol)
