I imagine they are - but Trump isn't known for his attention span and this won't be a Venezuela campaign. Iran seems to be well prepared to dig in and tough this one out.The rise in oil prices is very temporary, I imagine the US are planning to get control of the strait soon.

depends on what you're looking at.

It's literally a textbook example at Dartmouth.I think they will struggle to keep the Straits open, these drones are sneaky things and Iran is full of sneaky nutters - they only need an occasional success
It needs troops on the ground and trump won't be doing that
I think we're in a mess
The messaging coming from The White House on this (and let's be honest other stuff) is very mixed and inconsistent. The tv prog Veep springs to mind.In one 24-hour period trump declared the conflict “very complete, pretty much” but “we haven’t won enough” - making it up as he goes along, by the looks of things.
An intriguing consequence of this conflict may be a rise in people buying electric vehicles as the price of oil carries on rising. Iran has had plenty of time to prepare for this as Europe holds off on using strategic reserves...for now. How long would it take for us to consider dipping in to that stockpile?
