Trying to copy

When my disc drive is empty it shows as this DVD_RW drive
but as soon as I put a blank DDV+R in it comes up as CD DRIVE if I go into trouble shooting it tells me that the device is working properly which its not is it?When I right click to open the drive it comes up as
D:\drive not accessible incorrect funtion any ideas? I should add I have used it in the past to copy but not for a while.As soon as I eject the disc the drive shows up as DVD_RW drive again,the blank disc I am using are the same as before.

Hi oomp, from what you have said in your post, you are using dvd+rw in a dvd-rw drive. If it's anything like mine it dosn't like it.

Well the thing is I've used it with these blasted disc before.If I go into properties for the drive its a HL-dt-st DVD+-RW.

My 'HL-dt-st DVD+-RW' using the tool...

Appears to read / write most DVD media.
Doesn't write to '-Rom'
Reads / writes both '-R' & '+R' Dual Layer.

Tool 'Disc' view with blank DVD media inserted.

I do keep drivers updated via Dell web site...
