i have just bought a replacement belt for a tumble dyer, but need to remove the fan from the rear to remove the cover.

the fan is being held in place with a clip, that i've seen before, but i have no idea what type of clip its (name) and how to remove it!

the teeth of the clip fit into a groove on the shaft to hold the fan in place

crude picture below :)

any advice would be appreciated

Gentle force & a good pair of pliers while levering the tangs with a small screwdriver, also lots of patience. You will probably find you will need a new clip as they often become damaged in the process.
