I have two single oven units where once there was one double. The cable comes straight out of the wall with no connection unit and currently goes into a big junction box thats on the floor behind the kickboard.

Is this OK, or should a connection box be fitted?

It's a stud wall and the wire seems to come up the stud. I'd have to somehow bring the wire to the middle to put a drywall box in for a dual connection unit.

If its a correct rated, maintenance free junction box, then its okay. Send a picture of it.

well you know the correct way to do it.

If you think you will get 3 cables into junction with a satisfactory connection then.....

Otherwise, just buy the dual connection plate with its matching plastic rear and a spare dryline box. Your options are open then. Leave the dual one on the floor, or to the side somewhere or fit into wall

I don't know why you would need to bring the wire to the "middle", just put the box where the cable appears. (or below it), once you have seen the rear of the ovens, to ensure there is no clash

It's a 40A junction box (circuit has 32A fuse). Sounds like it's OK at the moment, but I might grab a back box at the next opportunity and add a plate
