Tyre seal breaking

Why all the faffing about to save a few quid? If you’ve got to be told how to break a bead, good luck with getting the tyre off and on again using tyre levers without damaging the tyre or rim - especially if it’s an alloy. Just take it to any tyre place and get it fitted, balanced properly and a new valve stem fitted. The 'wheel balancer' in that link is pure kak.

Only posted in the first place to say how I managed, with ease, to break the seal and change the leaking valve.
 
The reason valves leak between the stem and the rim is because the rubber ages, gets brittle and fails to form a good seal. Valves should always be changed every time a tyre comes off for either repair or replacement.
 
Well now we have the secret of easy tyre seal breaking, may as well get a portable wheel balance machine, get new tyres delivered and fit them at home.

The likes of Maxiss 195 65 15 are about £50 delivered from suppliers on ebay.

As others have said, those wheel balancers are a waste of time. Even theoretically, they could only ever work on a wheel that was infinitely thin (like an old LP for a record player)!
