You do not own your own voice

for example some one could use your voice for what ever reason

So for example if you get a phone call that you consider a scam you put the phone down

what if it’s a call from a close relative ? Your mother for example

they have been talking about it on the radio today

It's not strictly true.

Rights exist in the performance , the works and the recording.

So if I recorded you speaking, I would own the recording, but you would own the performance and the works, if you could establish it is a performance and not just you speaking. I would need your consent https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/48/part/II/chapter/2/crossheading/performers-rights

In the case of someones voice recorded to scam you, then it's straight forward Fraud and copyright doesn't really come in to it. Now given that in order to trick your relative in to recording my script, in order to trick you, I'd probably have got their consent, but it would be not in accordance with the consent and therefore, you have both works/performance and a lack of consent.

Easier just to prosecute for the Fraud, unless of course your relative is in on it :D

No they were on about voice tech equipment that can be used live
Not a recording

and there may well be no fraud involved as such that can be prosecuted

potentially but you think it’s some one else they are not saying they are that person

you just assume they are the person you know

apparently in the states they are looking at a law that gives a person legal title to there voice ??

so they said on the programme any way

There are one or two voices that are worth £millions when they narrate an advertisement.

Why? I don't know why. Tom Hanks, David Jason, Morgan Freeman etc, etc don't actually use the products & their voices cost £millions.

If you think it the voice advertising something to you belongs to someone you know then usually you are wrong. Do you feel silly having to have that pointed out to you?

Morgan Freeman does NOT sell insurance policies on radio Norwich.
