Underfloor Heating (UFH) – Electric or Wet – The real Cost?
Could someone confirm the real cost of an electric over a wet UFH system.
Electric UFH Cost.
Floor Area 15sqm.
Power / sqm (Devi in particular) 200w / m2.
Usage per Hour 200w x 15sqm = 3KW/hr
If you use an UFH heating for 4 hours a day (on average during the whole year)
Cost per day (electric @ approx 5.5p per KW/Hr) 3KW/hr x 5.5p x 4 hours = 66p a day
Cost per year 66p x 365 days = £240.90
Wet UFH Cost
Floor Area 15sqm.
Usage per Hour (Hep20 Conservatory Pack) 1.5KW/hr
If you use an UFH heating for 4 hours a day (on average during the whole year)
Cost per day (Gas @ approx 1.5p per KW/Hr) 1.5KW/hr x 1.5p x 4 hours = 9p a day
Cost per year 9p x 365 days = £32.85
Difference is over £200 per year!
Does this seem about right? Factors like installation are marginal but are there other factors to consider?
