Hi everyone,

We're getting our halls, stairs and landing measured today for carpet. I have been looking into the best type of underlay to use as we have floorboards throughout. At the moment I think a PU foam one called Tredaire Dreamwalk:

...is the front runner as most sites say that it is the best you can buy. Its soft, durable, good insulating properties and sound proofing. I can also get it for around £2.99 per square metre which, compared to £3.99 in CarpetRight for their cheapest stuff, is pretty good. Is this stuff any good? Any better alternatives that can be purchased for around the same price?

Also, are there any good "how to's" as to lay underlay on stairs? I have found a good one for how to do rooms and can use this for the landing and hall.

Thanks in advance.
