the underside of my staircase needs to be panelled,is there a preference as to what i should use? i dont really want to use plasterboard if i can help it

Normally plasterboard but you don't want that for reasons unknown, what do you want it to look like, T&G maybe? If I concentrate really hard I think I can predict the weather too.

Well plasterboard is out, T&G doesn't seem too popular either, what about plywood, trespa, mdf, upvc, steel, aluminium, copper. Probably a few I've missed out. The reason no one else has replied is because its an open ended question, you don't want to install the type of soffit that 99% of forumites on here would suggest in the first place. If we know what you want we can help.
it will be wood of some description,cant help thinking t&g would look crap but it is an option if stained a decent colour,the rest of the staircase is stained
