Underpinning. Or not.

morning all

just finished our extension, and co-incidentally the house insurance is up for renewal.

During the extension, the corner wall was extended (obv!). The building inspector looked at the foundation there and demanded more, due to the added weight or the beam above. So an extra cubic metre was thrown in; not a problem. The existing foundations weren't that great due to the fact we're on solid chalk.

Not a problem, but does this classify as underpinning in the subsidence sense, or not. Personally don't think so, but don't want to be caught out by tricksy insurers!
