Hello,

I have a south facing UPVC door from my conservatory to the garden. In very hot weather conditions the locking mechanism gets jammed- it can't be opened, even with extreme force!

What is happening? I'm hearing that UPVC expands in the heat, but it's the actual lock that doesn't want to budge - there is literally no give in the mechanism.

Is this a common problem, is there a cure?

Check allignment of strike/reciever plates.
Check lock works when door is open.
Once that is done you could clean out lock with WD40 assuming all is correct.
