Hi,

I recently had a new set of french doors fitted. I asked the companies about having a low profile on the bottom, and most said it wasn't possible.

One company said yes it was, so I went with them. When it was fitted, the bottom edge of the door frame is metal! I'm happy with it, and i should be a lot stronger.

Just wondering if these are very common, and I just was asking the wrong people? I have never seen it before, and wish I had before having a new front door fitted a year ago!!

when i measure a door i have three types of threshold in mind, normal upvc, low upvc and low ali, i avoid low ali TBH because it brings the door bottom right down close to to flooring inside, amongst other reasons. unless disabled access is required i avoid (in my opiniion)

That's exactly why I'm pleased with it - the original door had a very low threshold too, but a different type (timber door), and I didn't want to have a big step.

Yes they are very common, I'm surprised any company would say they couldn't do it.
