HI, we're in rented accom n in winter we asked lanlady to fix atio door so we can't see daylight through a gap in top where wind was whistling thru> She didn't do it n spoken to her today about renewing lease n said we need this doin first but she says it can't be done n that they're not prepared to replace the doors.
Can patio doors be adjusted so they hang square again? I'm sure this is the prob but she says she tried that with her boyfriend n they couldn't do it. She also said she'd had a prof round to look but that it isn't poss.
Please help, if I could do it myself then I'd not have to worry about draft n baby in next year>
Thanks :)

hi lizzie, if indeed a pro has tried to remedy the problem and failed then i'm afraid all the advice in the world isnt going to help you.

patio doors can be adjusted, normally with allen keys and the mechanisms sited at the hinges to adjust the doors up and down or in and out. though if the doors have not been fitted properly all the adjusting in the world aint going to sort the problem. it may be the doors need toeing and heeling http://www.thehomeimprovementcentre.com/double-glazing/toeing-and-heeling-exterior-upvc-doors but thats another story and the chances are you will make the problem worse.

anyway your landlady is duty bound to maintain the property it must be wind and watertight, tell her to get it sorted give her notice you are then entitled to get a company in to get it sorted and she gets the bill.

of course going down that road would cause bad feeling between yourself and your landlady...........
