Hi guys, a quick question.

So my Horstmann channel plus h37xl has died, no heating. So what I did is bypassed it, removed it completely and now I control my heating with the thermostat I have in 1st and 2nd floor (2 zone) so heating works for both zones independently, when I adjust to the temperature I want and when it reaches the temp it turns the zone off. Works as worked with programmer minus the time programing to turn the heating on certain hours of the day.

So my question is.

Can I keep it like that and just replace my room thermostats (HRT2) with some smart wired programable ones? Or I should get new programmer to replace the original Horstmann?

I would like to have smart features with my thermostats, but all I can find I that I need to buy thermostat with a receiver. I would like just to replace the room thermostat with smart programmable one and no receiver?

Any suggestions what to do?

As long as the wiring is ok and safe, then you can change the existing thermostats for programmable type. What you may find is they may be battery operated for the display to work and wiring behind for the switching.

I haven’t used that many. Salus are renowned for being rubbish and I’ve had a few issues with Honeywell. Lots of others recommend EPH or Esi. Neomitis are nice and I’ve ordered (yet to fit) some Timeguard stuff. All I can say really, sorry.
