Hi Everyone,

Looking for some help with my boiler that won't light. Gone through the manual and checks and i'm a bit lost as to what to do know. There are sparks but no pilot light and then after 10 seconds it locks out.

Today work has started in my road to replace the gas pipes along the road with plastic ones. It's likely that the gas may have been turned off at some point today. Is this just a coincidence or could that have caused it.

I've purged the gas supply and gas is definatley on and reaching the boiler. Other gas appliances in the house downstairs are working fine.

At the moment my options are to ask the workmen tomorrow if they know what could have caused it or to get someone to come out and have a look. Would like some feedback or suggestions....

Thanks
Si

Your boiler doesn't have a pilot light.

There could be an issue with the works in the street. You could have carp bunging up the gas valve. You cold have a duff valve.
Either way this is not going to be a DIY fix.

Just to update this in case anyone else has the same in future.

I had a faulty gas valve which was replaced (part = £210 +VAT, Callout £50).

Thats an interesting charge!

I would have charged you £84 diagnostic fee but probably only about £160 inc for the gas valve!
