Vaillant VR61 with Tado

Does anyone have any experience or success of using the VR61 with non-Vaillant thermostats? Not sure if this is possible or not as I realise the norm is to connect a VRC470 & VRC81 for the two zones.

As Tado can modulate the boiler over Ebus amongst others now, wondered whether this could be used in their place.

Any help appreciated.
