I was unfortunate enough to be involved in a kitchen install where one of Vance's many Kitchen Design and supply companies was used, unfortunately it became a headache of a job, where units ordered did not turn up, unit doors and draws turned up of different styles and colours, standard hinges were delivered where soft closers were ordered, the worktop never appeared.
It took over 5 months to sort this kitchen out, the worktop needed sourcing elsewhere as did the oven housing and the doors took 4 attempts to match up.
A very testing time for both installer and client, they did not take phone calls and only corresponded via fax or email, which often went unreplied.
My missus also had a work colleague that had similar experiences.

I would stay clear.

Good shout there.

Why are these semi-criminal kitchen companies so stupid.

Surely, they must realise that no-one on here is going to be taken in by these obvious adverts.

Well done the mod for deleting it so quickly.

Did anyone see the recent episode of The Watermen on BBC2? His premises at Maple Mill in Oldham hadn't paid the water bill for some time. The water co couldn't get money from him, so kept putting tarmac in the main pavement stop tap - but Miller's lot kept removing the tarmac and turning water back on.

The water co had to do it properly in the end with concrete. If I recall, they were chasing him for £56, 000.

That's the one - as soon as I saw the mill I wondered if Vance Miller was going to show up.

So far I've stopped at least three people buying the carp that he sells (in my opinion if there's any lawyers watching!)

Usual pattern is 'salesperson' comes round and for a fee of £100 designs the kitchen (and I use the term design in it's loosest form!) and then orders the pile of mismatched tat that claims to be a kitchen - the last design I saw was something a 5 year old could do in five minutes.

You can of course cancel the kitchen and you've only lost the £100 but, with the number of people who are sucked in to cheap online ads there's always another sucker around the corner.

He also seems to find legitimate kitchen designers and using a very similar website/domain name intercept the legitimate business.

Sounds a great name.
Pity the product line is crap.
I'll bet he wished he never tried advertising on here.

Ah, the name didn't ring a bell. I seem to remember that, having had the stop taps concreted over, he finally decided to pay a REDUCED amount to have his supply restored.

Why isn't he in jail? Receiving goods (water) and refusing to pay, and then following that by stealing goods (water) and, in the process, interfering with property that doesn't belong to him. Has he not committed several crimes?

Oh, yes. I forgot. We live in a country where the criminal is king. The courts are organised to let these criminals off with the most derisory sentence they can manage, even assuming they are brought to the courts.

Our criminal justice system is there to encourage crime, or so it seems.

I watched that too, didnt realise it was VM.

He's got another advert on this morning (reported).

The program shows how much the water guys have to do in order to simply inspect a pipe, repair a burst etc.

Not long ago Trading Standards took him to court. They screwed up the case and he got off scot free. My own experience with Trading Standards leaves me unimpressed. They are overworked and underfunded.

Our criminal justice system is biased in favour of the innocent, which means some crooks escape, and Miller is allegedly a wily operator.

Have you seen him on You Tube? He comes across as a very unpleasant piece of work.

I'd argue that our criminal justice system is biased in favour of the criminal, what with their 'suspended sentences', 'cautions', 'day release from open prisons' and so on!

I know what you mean, though.

I'm amazed at how often the CPS screw up, but I didn't know about Trading Standards being equally inept. It just seems to me that, one way or another, this whole country is becoming a haven for the crooks who know exactly how to play the system.

I sometimes wish it was somehow possible to send all these people to America for trial and punishment. It seems to have done the trick for 'Hook', anyway!

I suppose it is obvious, but "the Law" only really applies to the law-abiding - for some (VM included) it appears to hold no fears.
I saw a documentary on him a few years ago, where he was eventually jailed. When he came out, a mate handed him a can of Carling, he proudly displayed a set of ripped abs, and stated (about HM Hotel in background) that it was the best gym you could get.

Yes, there's no doubt about it, British prisons are like country clubs as far as career criminals are concerned.

If we weren't under the thumb of the ECHR, we could bring back hard labour. No work: no food. Simples.

Yes, sentencing seems too lenient at times. Cautions for GBH is nonsense. What I meant was that it requires solid proof of guilt so as to avoid imprisoning innocent people by mistake.
