Managed to take on water under a bridge. Car is stuck and wont turn over. Apparently only way to clear is to remove the glow plug and crank starter to clear water? Can anyone tell me where to look for the glow plug (usually) and if this advice is correct?

Vauxhall 2.2d engine. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

I wouldn't even try and start it.
Tow it back and check the cambelt is still attached, then worry about pumping the water out (most of it should have drained into the sump by now).
When you're sure everything is water free and cambelt is intact, then turn it over a few times with a spanner before trying to start it.
Then, fingers and toes crossed and give it a go on the starter

A few years ago same thing happened to me with a Pug 106 1.5 deisel, it took in water into the engine and the car when I was deluged on a flooded road. We towed the car home and my neighbour removed the glow plugs and drained the water by cranking but the damage to the engine was already done.

The vehicle was written off due to "flood damage" by the insurers.
