We have just fitted a replacement engine (the correct engine code). We started the engine to get water through and oil around. stopped it to check all was well. On the restart it only ran for about 30 sec; then stopped, we checked fuel levels ( gave it another 5lt) checked there was fuel at carb. Again it started and ran for about 30 sec. I now discover we have no spark. Help please.

I take it that it has electronic timing on it, is there 12v at the coil?
The coil is usually fed from some sort of amplifier module, the signal to this module is from the ECU.
Have you re-connected all the plugs to the instruments such as the crankshaft position sensor?
