Apologies if I missed a thread, but nothing came up on a search.

I have a few of those conservation Velux windows fitted, the ones with the brass thread running through a mounted base plate to open and close them.

The metal base plate is sitting on what appears to be a base of 8mm MDF.

The problem is that with wall plugs the tension of the thread opening the window pulls the base plate and the plugs and screws work lose.

Is there a better option to mount the base plate?

I considered some form of cavity plug or anchor.

There is a moderate ammont of tension on the base plate as the window opens and closes.

Any thoughts as to the best fastening would be greatly appreciated.

Tks, that helps!....

They have been fitted for 12 years.

Real wood would be better, but is more of a job than required.
