What's the name of the air admittance valve that you can fit on the top of 100mm waste/vent pipe, to avoid extending the vent pipe through conservatory ceilings? It allows air in, but doesn't allow jobby smells out.
And do they work?

Its called an AAV or Durgo valve.

I believe that you can only use if the system is already vented.

Check with your Building Control Office.

There is a pipe already there. It runs up the wall and has a swan neck to take it out of the conservatory roof. I want to replace the roof, and without the pipe, it will be sooooo much easier. So, I want to terminate the pipe beneath the ceiling and put a valve on it.

I assume the system is already vented because of the existing pipe. Yes?

The existing pipe IS the vent. For this reason you can not cap off with a AAV due to the build up of gases.

An AAv only allows air in to prevent negative pressure which loses trap seals.

Suggest you speak to BCO who will advise you further. :D
