Vertical ventilation in bathroom?

I've got one of the classic flat roof extensions with the bathroom in it. Currently I have a pipe (with an extractor fan) going through the kitchen for the ventilation of the bathroom.

Was thinking of replacing it with a vertical flue straight through the roof in the bathroom instead. I shouldn't need an extraction fan then, right? Also where do I find the bits for it?

Thanks

eeerrrr you will still need the fan
Ok kev, but why? Does the regulations state you need a fan either way? If you got a vertical pipe the hot air will go out that way anyway.

you are relying on convection, a fan will suck all the steam etc out

you can get a mushroom cover to stop the rain getting in :)
Maybe I should paint it red with white dots as well?? :p ;)

It is a building reg to fit a fan in the bathroom (new build) so a good idea to do, one thing to make sure is fit the correct one. If you have a long duct distance use a centrifugal type
