Very Noisy Boiler

I have an IMI gas boiler (copper) - H1275mm, D450mm, Storage Cap 140L, 11 years old. For the last 2 months it has started making loud noises (as if on) regardless of whether on or not.
Noises occur every 5-10 mins and last 5 mins. Recently took downstairs rad off wall & bled, also had extensive plumbing work done in kitchen as a result of recent floods. Could this be cause of problem? If not, any ideas? Thanks.

Is it really a "gas boiler" or is it really a cylinder?

Going to ask the obvious are you sure the immersion heater has not been switched on

it hasn't.

When you hear noise go and look and see if the boiler is firing even though it isn`t meant to be as off at clock it might still be firing
