Does anyone have Viessmann Vitosol 250 Solar Collectors?

There is a recall on these tubes.

What are they replacing them with?

The last time I heard they realised that they were failing but had not found a suitable replacement.

Thats interesting. I thought the viessmann tubes were made by Thermomax! The Vaillaint tubes were schott and they had a recall around 2-3 years ago, so I'm surprised on two counts with this news.

I have only fitted the 300's so wonder if those are ok!?

Mysman seems to have considerable inside knowledge of Viessmann products.

Maybe he can advise me about their tubes. I have two questions.

The tubes are usually fitted with the manifold at the top. Assuming these tubes use the solid copper rod then can they be used the other way up?

Next, can they be used on a drain back system? If not then why not?

Tony

Viessmann used Schott, then Thermomax now they manufacture their own in China.

Solid copper rod?

The direct flow 200-T can be used either vertically or horizontally when they can be used in a drainback system.

Are these 200T a solid copper rod heat conductor then?

Tony

The V 200-t is a direct flow, heat transfer fluid runs through the twin wall tube with absorber attached.

The V 300-T is a Heat pipe with temperature limiter and condenser with a dry manifold connection.

I do not know of a solar collector using a solid copper rod, that doesn't mean there isn't one.

If the V300T uses boiling alcohol then they have to be mounted vertically with the collection manifold at the top.

If the 200T has fluid transfer and connections at one end only then doesn't it have to be mounted with the connections at the bottom on a drain back system to ensure all the fluid drains out?

I was not aware that there were still direct fluid pipes being sold.

My memory is that Viessmann showed us a solid copper tube there.

Trouble is these manufacturers seem to change their suppliers/designs so often!

Tony

The connection sets can be fitted to either end of the manifold and the loop the opposite end.

Alcohol? are you sure? I thought that had stopped being used some time back as the efficiency drops of really quickly.

A solid rod will not conduct/transfer heat as quickly or easily a vapour.
