Ok it's not a major hassle to enter a 4 digit PIN if watching certain recorded progs before 10pm (used to be 9pm) however it's the amount & type of progs that fall into this category that confuses me. For example Susan Calman's Secret Scotland (broadcast at 8pm on Ch5) requires a PIN and it's totally family friendly as far as I can see. Or a documentary on bats, although granted it was originally broadcast at 9pm.
I can't recall other examples but trust me, the progs that are flagged as requiring a PIN often seem totally fine for almost any age to watch. I'm not sure if Virgin maybe use algorithms/scripts to detect progs that should be in the PIN category, regardless, it's a weird one.
