Hi All,

Wondering if you can help. A friend has the above boiler that needs replaced, I was wondering if there was a modern Vokera boiler that could be fitted as a 'direct' replacement - i.e it has similar pitch of pipes and flue layout. Obviously this would be cheaper for the installer to fit, especially if you could use the existing flue outlet, as the property is a flat 2 floors up! Any help would be much appreciated.

Your friend will need to hunt long and hard for such a boiler.

Am a little surprised he wants to replace this workhorse for a modern plastic steamer which will definately save him some fuel but almost certainly cost him heck of a lot when it breaks down.

Why not get the present boiler serviced (properly), fit a programmable roomstat and TRVs (in selected rooms) and 'look-see' where other improvments could be made to make the present system gas friendly.

Hi DP, thanks for the reply. I actually fitted a new fan to this boiler a few months ago, and since then he has had a plumber in as it had developed a leak, I think from the heat exchanger. This leak was pouring onto some electrical connectors, and seems to have damaged them. I never seen it myself, unfortunately. But the long an the short of it is that the plumber condemned it! It may be worth getting someone else in?

I agree with DP....try to keep the excel if possible.

I am sure he will pay you a visit if you ask him nicely

I recently changes my 80SP which had come to the end of it's life. However spares for it were indeed very reasonable. I used http://www.mjtcontrols.co.uk/ for my spares and was very please with the cost and availability. Make sure you get the right version of the 80 SP though as there were 2 versions and some of the parts are slightly different.
Worth finding a HE who knows Vokeras as well. I have found many that don't rate them, but the consensus on here seems to be that they are well built, simple and effective boilers.

All the Vokera combi range havbe pretty much the same pipework layout. The Unica HE is a reasonabley priced decent piece of kit to replace it with.
